Youthful Offenders
January 31st, 2023
Criminal charges affect people of all ages; however, it is challenging when faced with a criminal charge while starting your life. This situation poses unique legal issues. My goal is to navigate the legal system to prevent long-term damage to my client’s reputation and inhibit employment. Being labeled a felon often interferes with many opportunities in life. Younger people generally do not realize the long-term consequences of their actions.
My focus when dealing with younger individuals often involves getting their lives back on track. However, there are times when avoiding the criminal penalty is not possible. In those situations, I have to advise my clients on the path to their future. The ultimate goal is to complete an education or skill and move into the best employment possible. Depending on the crime charged, rehab or life skills classes often best serve my client. The goal is not only to get through the immediate charge but also to prevent future incidents.
Additionally, many people, at young ages, do not realize the long-term consequences of their actions. Therefore, a worst-case situation is for people to realize the consequences of their actions once they reach middle age and cannot achieve their desired success.
